The Face of Hunger is all Around Us

Everyone should be able to gather with loved ones and share a meal – especially during the holidays. But unfortunately, nearly 700,000 people – including 1 in 5 children – in the North Texas Food Bank service area are facing hunger and might not be able to put food on the table this holiday season.

This holiday season, as many people are struggling from inflation and rising food costs, no one should face hunger alone. NTFB has launched its 4th annual 面對飢餓 holiday campaign to support our neighbors experiencing hunger. Thanks to our generous friends at Sammons Enterprises and the Beaumont Foundation of America, 在這個假期到 12 月 31 日,禮物翻了一番, up to $200,000. This means $1 will provide 6 nutritious meals.

The campaign highlights the prevalence of hunger in North Texas and the people that it impacts. Hunger is not bound by race, color, creed, age or socio-economic level, and it exists in every community. The Face of Hunger campaign features images that reflect this diversity, emphasizing that hunger does not discriminate.

This includes the experiences of neighbors like Debbie, a senior who has benefited from the NTFB 高級課程 distributions during the last couple of tumultuous years and into this holiday season. Debbie and her family were able to utilize this food assistance when they were impacted by COVID and now as inflation continues to challenge her household.

“These distributions have been a great help during difficult times to keep up with our food and nutrition,” Debbie said. “This food assistance means a lot to us because it stretches [our budget] and we can hold on to what little money we have and spread it to other avenues. Every bit of the food we received helps, and I am just grateful this service exists.”

The face of hunger is closer than you think, and we are grateful for all who can join us in giving the gift of health, nourishment and hope this holiday season for neighbors like Debbie. For more information and to donate, visit here: FaceofHunger.org
