Give Back with your Galentines

Get involved with your gal pals in closing the hunger gap this Galentine’s Day, or any day.

1. Find a Place to Volunteer

The North Texas Food Bank’s Women’s Pipeline Leadership group recently packed boxes of food together at Feed My Starving Children. The organization takes reservations for groups who want to pack boxes for kids facing hunger. Search for other opportunities — including distributing food to neighbors, registering neighbors to receive groceries and more — on ntfb.org/getinvolved. At the Food Bank’s Perot Family Campus, volunteers can pack boxes, sort produce and receive food donations at the door. Sign up here.

2. Reserve Tickets for Empty Bowls

Skip the stress of making plans during Valentine’s week and instead plan for your girls’ night during Empty Bowls, presented by Kroger on February 29. The annual event at the North Texas Food Bank’s Perot Family Campus features bowl-friendly fare by area chefs, drinks, a raffle and live entertainment. Each guest also gets to take home a unique bowl handcrafted by an area artisan. Tickets are available here.

3. Send an eCard

For those besties who don’t live close enough to celebrate with, consider an ecard. The online tribute option allows you to send a virtual Valentine’s Day card in honor of your friend. Every $25 given helps provide neighbors with access to 75 meals. Send a card here.

4. Plan a Coffee Date

Dutch Bros is celebrating the month of love with Dutch Luv Lattes and Frosts (a pink sugar cookie flavored drink that can be ordered as a coffee or shake) and Dutch Luv Rebels (a red energy drink that’s berry flavored). For each Luv drink purchased between now and Feb. 18, Dutch Bros will donate a dollar to the North Texas Food Bank. Find locations here.

5. Go Fowling

Through Feb. 11, groups can receive a $5 discount on fowling (a combo of football, cornhole and bowling) when they bring two or more canned food donations for the North Texas Food Bank to Fowling Warehouse DFW. Can’t make it by then? Throughout the month, 10% of any Trio Appetizer ordered on Mondays will benefit the Food Bank.

6. Pick up a Gift at NTFB’s Harvest Market

Whether a Defined Dish cookbook ($15) to help plan dinner for your next girls’ night, a handcrafted artisan bowl ($20) or a mystery Kendra Scott jewelry box ($50), there are gifts at every price level, and all proceeds support the North Texas Food Bank and its mission.
