SNAP and Social Services Assistance
The NTFB SNAP and Social Services Assistance team is dedicated and committed to educating; providing swift and convenient SNAP and other Your Texas Benefits application assistance to our neighbors within the 12 counties we serve.
SNAP is the nation’s #1 defense against hunger.
This past year we provided access to more than 46 million meals through our SNAP benefit application assistance, which equates to a local economic impact value of $196 million.
We provide several Social Services Assistance (SSA) options for our Agency and Community Partner, such as:
Case Assistance Navigators are available to be onsite at agencies to assist neighbors in applying for SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, and other Health and Human Services (HHS) Programs on a consistent basis.
“For the first time since I became a single mom, I have a clear sense of how to start rebuilding my life.” That’s what one neighbor shared with us after North Texas Food Bank staff helped her complete a SNAP application so she can access free groceries. NTFB also connected her with resources to assist her as she seeks affordable housing and childcare.
An unemployed neighbor was struggling to make ends meet. A Case Assistance Navigator helped him apply for SNAP so he can purchase groceries and referred him to other programs to support him through this time. “I did not know where to start or who to call,” neighbor said. “Thank you for listening.”
With SNAP, neighbor was able to continue purchasing groceries for her 7- and 11-year-old sons while she was out of work recovering from surgery and cancer treatment. “This helps us a lot with two growing boys,” she said.
