Volunteer Opportunties
Millions of meals are distributed through our programs and Feeding Network each year. Volunteers participating in the Pack and Box opportunity will work together in an assembly line to package the boxes/bags of food that are distributed to our neighbors through our programs and our Feeding Network.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals or groups.
Volunteers must be 12 years old to participate. Volunteers aged 12 – 15 require a chaperone.
Pack and Box shifts take place at the Distribution Center. Shifts are Tuesday – Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Shifts are 2.5 hours in length.
Hundreds of thousands of pounds of donated food come through our Donation Door each year. The Food Donation Door Clerk welcomes donors, accepts donations and provides a receipt. The door clerk may also assist in sorting and packaging the donations.
This opportunity is available for individuals.
Volunteers must be 18 years old to participate.
Food Donation Door Clerk shifts are Monday – Saturday at the Distribution Center. Weekday shifts are 4 hours long. Saturday shifts are 3.5 hours long.
Fresh produce is a valuable food item that is distributed to our Feeding Network. This opportunity allows for volunteers to assist in sorting bulk produce into mixed pallets for our Feeding Network.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals or small groups.
Volunteers must be 16 years old to participate.
Produce Sorting shifts are on Tuesday and Thursday at the Distribution Center. The shift occurs in the produce cooler, which is 40°.
Cold Sorting is a volunteer opportunity on our cold dock where volunteers sort, bag, and box frozen products for our neighbors.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals or small groups. Groups must sign up as individuals.
Volunteers must be 16 years old to participate.
Cold Sorting shifts are on Saturday at the Distribution Center. The shift occurs on the cold dock, which is 40°.
The North Texas Food Bank serves thousands of senior citizens through a government regulated program known as Commodity Supplemental Food Program. Neighbors in this program receive boxes of food at distributions across our service area once a month. Volunteers will assist NTFB staff by loading boxes into the cars of seniors.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals or small groups.
Volunteers must be 18 years old to participate.
These opportunities occur across our service area. Please refer to the opportunity description in the Volunteer Portal for the exact location. These do not occur at the Distribution Center.
The North Texas Food Bank serves thousands of neighbors at Mobile Distributions. Neighbors receive boxes of food at drive-thru distributions across our service area. Volunteers will assist NTFB staff by loading boxes into the cars of our neighbors.

Volunteers must be 18 years old to participate.
These opportunities occur across our service area. Please refer to the opportunity description in the Volunteer Portal for the exact location. These do not occur at the Distribution Center.
Jan’s Garden is a sustainable, small-scale learning garden in honor of our late CEO, Jan Pruitt. Volunteers will assist NTFB Staff with a variety of gardening tasks during the volunteer shift.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals or small groups.
Volunteers must be 16 years old to participate.
This opportunity occurs in Jan’s Garden at The North Texas Food Bank.
The North Texas Food Bank hosts and participates in a variety of Special Events throughout the year where volunteers are needed. Volunteer tasks at these events vary depending on the nature of the event. Notable special events include Empty Bowls, Taste of the Cowboys and The State Fair of Texas.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals.
The age requirement is dependent on the nature of the event.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Administrative Duties - Data Entry, Client Follow-Up Calls, Distributing Jotforms (Virtual or Onsite at food bank locations)
Field Work - Assisting our Field Team with helping neighbors at our SNAP Partner Sites
Call Center - Answering and routing Incoming Calls
Necessary equipment and training will be provided.
Our Feeding Network is made up of nearly 500 Feeding Partners who help us feed our neighbors across North Texas! If our calendar is booked on your desired day of service, we recommend serving with one of our Feeding Partners.
