NTFB Celebrates Pride Month
The North Texas Food Bank’s QUEERSpace Affinity Group is lifting up the LGBTQIA+ community this June—and throughout the year.
The group that is made up of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies kicked off Pride Month by participating in the Dallas Pride Parade & Festival on June 1.
They brought NTFB’s SNAP Mobile to the Saturday festival and provided resources and information to families and teens.
On June 15, the group hosted a volunteer shift at NTFB’s Perot Family Campus called Package with Pride The Musical.
Around 16 people participated, including members of QUEERSpace as well as several community members. Together, they packed 450 boxes or 7,500 meals for our neighbors facing hunger.
QUEERSpace works throughout the year to be a welcoming place for the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies. The group educates fellow NTFB staff members about the community and the NTFB partner agencies that specifically serve LGBTQIA+ neighbors. They also raise awareness of the unique challenges the LGBTQIA+ community can face when it comes to hunger.
