Eighth Grader Supports 15,000 Meals Through Financial Literacy Program
14-year-old Saanvi Gullapalli is helping students learn financial literacy while creating meaningful community impact.

While many 8-year-olds were digging into the latest YA novel, Saanvi Gullapalli was reading the Wall Street Journal. Inspired by her father, Ravi Gullapalli, a hedge fund manager, she began understanding the basics of investing. Before she turned 9, she had purchased her first stock
Now 14, Saanvi has transformed that early interest into a broader mission. As the founder of Saanvi Finance Academy, she leads structured financial literacy programs for fifth through 10th grade students, helping them understand how markets work, basic economic concepts, and the importance of long-term financial thinking.
Through her recent 10-week program conducted in the Frisco area, Saanvi raised $5,000 and donated 100% of the proceeds to North Texas Food Bank, helping provide 15,000 meals for individuals and families facing hunger in the community.
Since launching her initiative, Saanvi has now taught over 100 students through both in-person and online classes. In addition to her recent donation to North Texas Food Bank, she previously donated $3,000 to The Salvation Army through earlier programs.

“I was looking for an organization that impacts people across the Dallas area, and this is perfect because it helps so many people who are experiencing hunger,” Saanvi said.
As she continues to expand her programs, Saanvi is preparing for upcoming summer sessions that will include both virtual and in-person classes, allowing more students to participate and benefit.
“It’s more than just learning about investing,” Saanvi said. “I believe financial literacy is a life skill. When students learn about finances early, they can build a stronger, more confident future.”
Her work has also been recognized by the City of Southlake, where the Mayor and City Council proclaimed January 6, 2026 as “Saanvi Gullapalli Day” in recognition of her contributions to education and community service. She was also invited to visit the New York Stock Exchange by CNBC’s Scott Wapner, further fueling her passion for financial markets.
Saanvi plans to continue growing Saanvi Finance Academy with the goal of helping more students build confidence and awareness around financial literacy at a young age. And, she plans to continue giving back to the community while staying involved with NTFB.
