Disaster Relief

Responding to the needs of our neighbors following a major disaster.

NTFB is part of a local collaboration called the Mass Care Task Force, which leverages the strengths of four separate organizations – the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, the North Texas Food Bank, and the Volunteer Center of North Texas – to respond to the needs of area neighbors following a major disaster.

The vision of the Mass Care Task Force is a North Texas community prepared to effectively and efficiently meet the humanitarian needs resulting from a major disaster – even a "worst-case scenario" event impacting as many as 250,000 citizens. Should a major disaster that impacts thousands of people in our community strike, the four organizations will join forces to help meet the need.  NTFB's unique role during Mass Care Task Force activation is to immediately provide food and beverages during the initial days of response.

The collaborative effort was established in 2006 in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita to maximize the disaster-related services provided by the four non-profits.
