Ask your co-workers to focus on crucial protein-enriched items like tuna fish or peanut butter. PrimeSource Builders Supply in Carrollton held a competition between departments to fill the “PrimeSource Pantry”— employees contributed over 8 tons of food to the Food Bank. The winning team was recognized with a special company lunch.

Tips for a Successful Initiative

Start building awareness for your event a month or more in advance by using posters, email blasts, newsletters, intranet, paycheck stuffers and other communication tools. Print out and place recruitment flyers on bulletin boards, in break rooms and other places employees spend time. Distribute educational materials or request a speaker from the Food Bank to inform your employees about the issue of hunger. Finally, be sure to thank and recognize teams for supporting the employee giving campaign.
