Thank You for Supporting Neighbors like Mona
Mona was one of more than 2,000 families served during November and December food distributions at North Texas Food Bank partner University of North Texas at Dallas.

When Mona arrived at 11:45 p.m. the night before the 9 a.m. holiday food distribution at University of North Texas Dallas, there were already three cars in front of her.
“It’s different this year because of what’s going on,” she said, explaining why she lined up so early. “There’s so much need out there right now.”
Mona retired from the U.S. Postal Service after heart issues and said she appreciates the support making ends meet now that she lives on a fixed income.
“My health was getting bad and they said, either retire or it’s going to take you out,” she says.
She’s so thankful for the help that Mona volunteers when she’s able, packing and boxing food a few times a month at North Texas Food Bank and even volunteering for special events, like the State Fair of Texas.
With the food she doesn’t need, Mona says she shares with her elderly neighbors who aren’t able to get out.
“I would like to say thank you for helping out,” she says. “Just a big thank you for the support—this community needs it.”
