St. Jude Center Park Central is Serving North Texas Veterans

The center is part of Catholic Charities Dallas, one of North Texas Food Bank’s largest partners.

At St. Jude Center Park Central, Daniel is not only a resident, but also a regular volunteer.

A veteran, Daniel recently retired from a warehouse job and said he struggled to find affordable housing. Catholic Charities Dallas’ St. Jude Center Park Central provides permanent supportive housing to those facing homelessness as well as veterans needing support.

Daniel qualified for a spot and quickly made his way to the on-site pantry, Joe’s Pantry, to volunteer his time. He’s now a regular in the pantry, stocking canned goods and produce before neighbors come in to shop. Twice a month, Daniel also picks out food for himself.

“I like the vegetables and stuff that are good for my health,” he says.

Daniel receives social security but says with the high cost of everything in Dallas now, every little bit he can save is helpful. With money he saves on groceries, Daniel can cover his transportation costs. “This is a blessing,” he says.

St. Jude Center Park Central also provides crisis intervention, case management, vocational training and a Co-Work and Coffee Space.
