Empty Bowls Helps to Provide more than 757,000 Meals

The North Texas Food Bank’s signature event, presented by Kroger, raised critical funds to support our neighbors facing hunger.

Thanks to the generosity of guests, sponsors, talented local artisans and gracious restaurant partners, North Texas Food Bank’s 25th Anniversary Empty Bowls raised critical funds to support more than 757,000 meals for our neighbors facing hunger.

Presented by Kroger, the event took place February 27 at NTFB’s Perot Family Campus. The money raised helps support the 1 in 7 North Texans who are food-insecure, 40% of whom are children. Since its inception, this signature event has raised enough to provide more than 8 million meals.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed bowl-friendly fare from over a dozen area restaurants, including  Asian Mint, Celebration Restaurant & CateringDallas Grilled Cheese CompanyEmpire Baking CompanyLockhart SmokehouseMcRae’s American Bistro & CocktailsMozzarella CompanyRaising Cane’s, Red StixSeager & SonsShake ShackSuburban Yacht ClubTaverna RossaThe Texas Barn at Circle T RanchUnion Bear and Urban Rio Cantina & Grill. A special thanks to celebrity guest chef Brian Luscher, culinary director for 33 Restaurant Group.

Guests also were invited to select a bowl handcrafted by a local artisan. The bowls are meant to serve as a reminder that not everyone in North Texas knows where the food will come from to fill their bowls or plates each day.

In Jan’s Garden, attendees and VIP guests were invited to view demonstrations by the Dallas Area Woodturners.

Inside, NTFB offered a raffle as well as Mission Moment Presentations where guests could learn more about how NTFB is using data to fight hunger.

This event would not be possible without our generous guests, sponsors and community.

“Thank you for joining us for this special anniversary event, and for standing alongside us as we work toward a hunger-free, healthy North Texas,” says Trisha Cunningham, NTFB President & CEO.
