Charles Schwab is Making a Strong Investment in the North Texas Food Bank

The company and its North Texas office give back through time, talents and financial resources.

At Charles Schwab and Co., financial support and volunteerism go together.

“The volunteering and the physical presence and effort just hit differently than monetary gifts—both are important, but sorting the food that helps the hungry, and meeting like-minded coworkers when volunteering can lead to new acquaintances and better teamwork across the entire campus,” says Vince Regan, Wealth Advisor and the DFW Schwab Community Ambassador for Northern Texas Food Banks.

In 2023 alone, Charles Schwab donated $75,000 in monetary donations to the North Texas Food Bank, not including employee giving and matching. In partnership with Harvest Pack, over 851 employees joined together in December to build meals to donate to NTFB. During Schwab’s volunteer week earlier this year, over 24,000 Schwab employees volunteered with multiple nonprofits in the North Texas community, including NTFB.

“Prior to the pandemic, much of Schwab’s volunteer efforts focused on financial literacy and teaching youth the basics of money management”, Vince says. “That continues, but the company’s focus now includes meeting core needs, like food, as well”.

“The lockdowns inspired many corporations and people to think more about their immediate community ,” Vince says. “Couple that with Schwab’s new global headquarters in Westlake, Texas, and the ramp-up in financial and community support has been immense since (2020).”

Vince says focusing on food insecurity was a natural decision for him and his teammates after learning that 1 in 5 children in North Texas—often thought of as a wealthy area—face hunger. Seeing the immense size of the North Texas Food Bank only added to their sense of urgency.

“It opened my eyes to all the efforts to address food insecurity in my local community through churches and other organizations,” he says, adding that by getting involved, “I hope at least a handful of employees realize how vast the problem of hunger and food insecurity really is—sometimes as close as your own neighborhood. NTFB does not have a world-class coordination operation and 70,000 square feet of refrigeration to solve a small problem.”

Along with committing to fighting hunger as a company, Charles Schwab equips its employees to join the efforts individually by matching giving dollar for dollar up to $1,000 per employee and  by providing each team member with eight hours of paid time to volunteer in their community.

Charles Schwab is a corporate donor that genuinely cares, and their employees show their concern for our neighbors facing hunger during each interaction they have with NTFB.

Thank you, Charles Schwab!
