Abbott Prepares Disaster Relief Packs to Support Neighbors During Extreme Weather
Since 2006, Abbott has reached nearly 1 million people through its partnership with Feeding America.

About 50 volunteers from Abbott spent a recent morning at the North Texas Food Bank creating disaster packs meant to support families impacted by extreme weather in Texas and throughout the U.S.
“With communities across Texas already feeling the impact of recent severe storms—and another active hurricane season on the way—it’s critical to be prepared to help our community before disaster strikes,” said Sarah Elmore-Burns, senior director of marketing and communications at NTFB.

The “Abbott disaster relief packs,” which were put together at NTFB by employees from Abbott’s Plano and Irving offices, are designed to be given directly to families impacted by disasters. They are meant to meet an immediate need for nutrition for up to three days. The boxes include products such as Pedialyte rehydration solutions and Ensure and PediaSure drinks for adults and children.
NTFB has hosted the Abbott and Feeding America packing event for over a decade, helping more than 40,000 people impacted by hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding and other storms. Boxes packed in 2024 were sent from NTFB to North Carolina in response to Hurricane Helene.

The effort is part of a nationwide partnership between Abbott and Feeding America that started 20 years ago following Hurricane Katrina. This year, packing events were also scheduled in New Orleans, Orlando and Puerto Rico.
By the end of 2025, Abbott anticipates these disaster preparedness efforts will have supported nearly 1 million people across the U.S.
Since 2002, Abbott has donated more than $142 million in nutritional products to Feeding America, including the products that were packed this month at NTFB.
