More than 65,000 Meals Donated During Comerica Bank Shred Day

The company’s annual DFW Shred Day supported North Texans facing hunger while recycling 266,200 pounds of paper.

The community donated the equivalent of 65,009 meals for their neighbors facing hunger during DFW Shred Day, hosted earlier this month by Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain.

The annual event gives Dallas-Fort Worth residents the chance to have private documents destroyed and recycled. While dropping off their paper materials, they also have the chance to donate food or funds to support North Texas Food Bank.

This year, more than 2,220 vehicles visited the drive-through event, dropping off 266,200 pounds of paper that Comerica Bank shreds and recycles. In donations, guests dropped off 7,040 pounds of food as well as $19,714 in cash donations. Together, the gifts will enable 65,009 meals for children, families and older adults facing hunger in the 12 counties served by NTFB.

Since the event began in 2011, Comerica Bank has helped provide more than 700,000 meals while recycling more than 4.2 million pounds of paper.

NTFB is thankful for the generous support of our community, Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain. We could not do what we do in the fight against hunger without their steadfast partnership.
