20th Anniversary Taste of the Cowboys Raises 1.6M Meals
The June 7 signature event presented by Ashley and hosted by the Dallas Cowboys provides critical funds to support North Texas children facing hunger.
The North Texas Food Bank and Dallas Cowboys celebrated the 20th anniversary of Taste of the Cowboys on June 7 at the Cowboys’ World Headquarters, The Star in Frisco.
The signature event, presented by Ashley, brought together some of our most dedicated supporters, sponsors and talented chef, restaurant and drink partners — all in an effort to ensure no child goes hungry in North Texas.
Thanks to the nearly 1,000 guests and our generous sponsors, Taste of the Cowboys raised enough money to provide 1.6 million meals for our Nourish the Future programs that directly target child hunger. That funding is especially critical right now as a new report from Feeding America shows that childhood hunger in North Texas surged from 15.8% in 2021 to 20.8% in 2022, the most recent data available. That means 1 in 5 children in our area face hunger.
During the event, guests enjoyed gourmet tailgate fare from some of DFW’s favorite restaurants, all led by Taste of the Cowboys Founding Chef Kent Rathbun. Thank you to Chef Rathbun and to these participating restaurants: BIRD Bakery, Calabrese Southlake, The Common Table, Dea, Dee Lincoln Prime, Empire Baking Co and Mozzarella Co, Ferris Wheelers Backyard and BBQ, Hattie B’s, La Duni, Legends at AT&T Stadium, Legends at Cowboys Club, Legends at The Star in Frisco, Legends at Toyota Stadium, Lockhart Smokehouse, Lover’s Seafood, The Mexican, Neighborhood Services, Off the Bone Barbeque, Rathbun’s Curbside BBQ, Salum Restaurant, Shinsei and Texas de Brazil.
Those in attendance also had the chance to bid during live and silent auctions, and to participate in the Kendra Scott Mystery Box Pull and Bean Suntory Liquor Pull.
The night concluded with a performance by country music star John Michael Montgomery, who is on his farewell tour after a successful 30-year career that featured multiple No. 1 singles, including “I Swear,” which he performed for guests at The Star.
This event would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors, the partnership of the Dallas Cowboys and our community. Thank you!
