More than 2.3 million meals provided by Rotary Club of Park Cities

The club and its Fourth of July Parade have supported North Texas neighbors since 2016.

Through its Fourth of July Parade, the Rotary Club of Park Cities has provided access to more than 2.3 million meals for North Texans facing hunger since 2016. This year alone, the parade raised enough funds to support 487,350 meals.

“The North Texas Food Bank could not do what it does in the fight against hunger without the partnership and support of organizations like the Rotary Club of Park Cities,” said NTFB President and CEO Trisha Cunningham.

This year’s donation was made possible thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club, local businesses, caring neighbors and generous matching partners from The Lesley Foundation and The David M. Crowley Foundation.

The support is especially crucial right now as the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex ranks third in the nation for hunger, with more than 1.3 people who are food insecure. The 12 counties served by the NTFB account for more than half of that population, with more than 744,000 people facing hunger, including 1 in 5 children.

NTFB has also lost more than $11 million in federal funding since the start of the year at a time when it is serving more neighbors than it did during the height of the pandemic.

An NTFB truck was featured as part of this year’s parade. Several elected officials from NTFB’s service area, including State Sen. Tan Parker (pictured below), also attended the event.

“We extend a heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club of Park Cities and all of this year’s parade patrons for their compassion and continued commitment to a hunger-free, healthy North Texas,” Trisha said.
