When restaurants began closing at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anna and her family were impacted deeply. All but one of them work in the restaurant industry, and every one of them lost their job when their employers shut down. As their savings dwindled, Anna’s family worried about paying rent while keeping food on the table. Through the North Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry Program, she has received an abundance of healthy food, as well as some relief from her worry.
“My brother and I sometimes can’t sleep thinking about what we’ll do with the little savings we have to pay the rent. Because the money that we save with this food they are going to give us can help us to last a couple of months.”
