Celebrating 40 Years of Service

Founded in 1982, the North Texas Food Bank celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2022. Since the first 400,000 pounds of food were distributed in 1982, NTFB’s impact has grown exponentially, to deliver more than 125 million pounds of food in FY21. With this growth, we also know that it takes more than food to end hunger. Moving into our next four decades, we’re finding new ways to increase food donations, leveraging our diverse network of partner agencies and the critical wraparound services they provide, helping more neighbors find relief through food assistance programs, and making a lasting change in the fight against hunger by addressing the underlying barriers to food security.

Harvest: A 40th Anniversary Celebration

On Saturday, February 19, 2022, the North Texas Food Bank hosted Harvest, a black-tie gala event at the Dallas Omni hotel commemorating the organization’s 40 years of providing hunger relief in North Texas.

40 Years, 40 Stories

In celebration of 40 years of service to our community and with support from H-E-B, the North Texas Food Bank embarked on a living history project, documenting the stories of those individuals who have made a lasting impact on our mission of closing the hunger gap in North Texas. The stories feature founding members, employees, volunteers, agency partners and those we serve, and community partners including donors, advocates, board and LIFE Council members, and long-time supporters. We thank YOU for being a part of the Food Bank’s story and invite you to submit your special memories, involvement, and hope for the future here. Stories will be added throughout this anniversary year.

Food for Today and Hope for Tomorrow
